This 6 km round trip offers serene views and is a perfect escape from the crowds, all while being conveniently close to Moraine Lake for a quick getaway.
Larch Valley Trail
If you’re looking for a bird’s-eye view of Moraine Lake, the Larch Valley Trail is the perfect choice. This trail takes you through a forest of golden larch trees, particularly stunning in the fall, with the majestic Ten Peaks as your backdrop. Moderately challenging, this 8.6 km hike features a moderate elevation gain and offers one of Banff’s most unforgettable experiences, combining forest, mountain, and alpine vistas.
Eiffel Lake Trail
A detour from the Larch Valley Trail, the Eiffel Lake Trail provides an unmatched overhead view of Moraine Lake and the surrounding valley below. Less frequented than other routes, it offers spectacular sights that rival any in the park. This 11.2 km round trip is moderately challenging but worth every step.
Sentinel Pass
For those seeking a more challenging hike, Sentinel Pass is the ultimate adventure. Continuing past Larch Valley, this steep climb leads you to a high vantage point with breathtaking views over Paradise Valley. Although it’s a strenuous hike, the reward of standing in the clouds and looking down at Moraine Lake is an experience few get to savor.
